Champions League: Last 16 First Leg Acca

We have finally arrived at the proper knockout rounds of the Champions League!

There are a number of tough match ups in the last 16, some of which know each other very well – or have even faced off already in this year’s competition!

If you fancy a football bet on the Champions League action, there’s plenty of sports betting odds and markets to choose from.

Aston Villa to beat Club Brugge @ 2.40

Two of the underdogs so far, but both have proven their worth in this competition, beating some top teams on their way to the last 16. In fact, these two faced off on Matchday 4, when Club Brugge came out as 1-0 winners. But this time, the shock factor will be gone, and knowing exactly what they’re dealing with may help Villa to settle and play at their best from the start.

This may also be enhanced by the January additions of Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford, who have formed a lethal partnership since arriving at Villa Park. With Club Brugge’s recent poor form in the Jupiler Pro League and Villa’s strength, we’re backing the Premier League side for the win.

Mohamed Salah to score vs PSG @ 2.63

Perhaps the highest profile game of this round, a high-flying Liverpool travel to the City of Love to take on the might of PSG. Now without Kylian Mbappe, the Ligue 1 side have shown no signs of missing the French forward and in fact, look stronger and more cohesive than ever. Their young stars such as Bradley Barcola and Joao Neves are shining bright and look to be developing into some of the best in Europe. Things really are looking good for the Parisiens and they’re looking to make a run for the trophy.

But in their way stand Arne Slot’s Liverpool. Winners of the League Phase and current runaway leaders of the Premier League, there aren’t many tougher draws than the Reds. While the home advantage may favour the French outfit, Liverpool are capable of taking down any team in the world currently. It’ll be a close one, but we’re backing the Merseyside club’s talisman Salah to get on the scoresheet.

Arsenal to beat PSV @ 2.05

The Gunners are enduring a strange time at the moment. Low on offensive players and lacking in confidence, their results seem to echo this lack of belief. They have slid away in the Premier League and look to be fighting to hold on to second place, rather than chasing down the title. They will need to regain their composure to make a strong start to their knockout campaign.

PSV are in a similar position, in second place domestically but making good progress in the Champions League, advancing past Juventus in the play-offs against the odds. Arsenal are a reliable and high-quality side and will give PSV a different test, one in which we think the North London team will come out on top.

Florian Wirtz to score vs Bayern Munich @ 4.60

The Bundesliga title race will come to a head on the continent this week as top-of-the-table Bayern host rivals Leverkusen, who sit eight points behind them in domestic football. But that won’t matter on Wednesday, as the Champions League will be the only thing on their minds. Both sides are full of exciting young talent, which sets us up for a thriller of a tie!

German stars Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz are two of the hottest prospects on the continent and have many eyes on them, including potential suitors in the summer. And we are backing Wirtz to be a difference maker for Leverkusen in a fiercely-fought first leg.
