Arsenal to beat Aston Villa @ 1.84
In a repeat of the clash that ultimately decided last season’s Premier League title, Arsenal visit Aston Villa this weekend with revenge on their mind.
With firm trophy ambitions, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners will want to extend their recent winning streak in this grudge match – and do so in convincing fashion.
Expect to see new addition Riccardo Calafiori make an appearance as Arsenal begin another run at winning the Premier League title.
Villa also won their first game of the season against a new-look West Ham side, but this is a different proposition and they will have to reach another gear if they want to come away with anything from this one.
Barcelona to beat Athletic Bilbao @ 1.64
This weekend, Barcelona will face off against a footballer they have been chasing all summer, Nico Williams. The Euro 2024 winner will spearhead the Athletic Club attack when they visit Catalunya on Saturday.
After a 1-1 draw with Getafe on the opening weekend, Athletic Club will want to cause a shock and put their season back on track. They have added smartly to their squad of Basque talent and will hope that it is enough to carry them to a European finish.
Barcelona have also added talent to their roster, as well as handing appearances to their wealth of young talent from the famous La Masia academy.
Robert Lewandowski starred in their opener, scoring twice as they defeated Valencia 2-1 away from home. If Real Madrid are to be stopped in 2024-25, Barca need to keep the points flowing, which we back them to do this weekend.
AC Milan to beat Parma @ 1.72
After a slow start and a disappointing draw with Torino, Milan will be hoping to kickstart their title charge with a win over Parma this weekend.
Manager Paulo Fonseca has added some serious talent to the squad in the form of prolific goalscorer Alvaro Morata and young midfield enforcer Youssouf Fofana. The Rossoneri look to be in a good position to challenge for the title, but a strong start is still essential to make sure they are in the mix come the end of the season.
Parma also sit on a point after their first game against Fiorentina (1-1) and are looking to cement their place in Serie A after achieving promotion from the second tier last season.
They face a tough run of games to start but capably handled La Viola, so will aim for an equally impressive display when Milan come to town on Saturday. However, we think the Rossoneri will be too much for them to deal with.
Borussia Dortmund to beat Eintracht Frankfurt @ 1.70
Dortmund host Eintracht in their season opener for the 2024-25 Bundesliga, with both sides aiming for the best possible start. Naturally, Dortmund will have ambitions of beating Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich to the title and will want to make a big statement to begin the campaign.
Edin Terzic has a new strike force at his disposal in the shape of Max Beier and Serhou Guirassy, two players who can give Dortmund a real cutting edge up top.
Eintracht will have European football on their mind after finishing sixth in the Bundesliga last season and confidence should be running high in the camp.
But a clash away to Dortmund is far from an ideal start and we think they will have to wait another week to get their first points on the board.
PSG to beat Montpellier @ 1.31
PSG are still getting used to life without Kylian Mbappe but seem to be adapting well after a convincing 4-1 win over Le Havre on Matchday 1 of the Ligue 1 season.
Luis Enrique’s youthful side looks to be unphased, playing freely without the immense expectation and pressure of their former star man. But they face a test this weekend against a tidy Montpellier side who will look to capitalise on the slightly chaotic feel to an early fixture to take some points from the defending champions.
La Paillade drew their first game with Strasbourg and will want to get moving in Ligue 1 so as not to risk getting left behind. As always in France, everyone wants to beat PSG and their opponents will provide Montpellier with extra motivation when they visit Parc des Princes this weekend.
But we think the occasion will be a bit too much for them.
