Genk vs Club Brugge: Both teams to score @ 1.60
*Odds are subject to change
These two giants of Belgian football are both looking for their first wins of the Pro League season.
Genk and defending champions Brugge suffered defeats last weekend and as such, they will be itching to silence the critics with a top performance this time around.
With so much on the line so early in the season, this really could be an enthralling encounter between two sides who will want to be in the Championship play-off round come the latter stages of the season.
It is hard to pick a winner, but we really fancy both teams to get on the scoresheet, especially with the attacking talent on show in the form of Genk’s Tolo Arokodare and Brugge’s summer signing Gustaf Nilsson – two of the best strikers in the division.
Standard Liege to beat Mechelen @ 2.16
No one really saw Standard picking up a win over Brugge last weekend, but they did and collected three precious points in the process.
Marko Bulat’s 64th-minute goal was enough for a first victory of the campaign and it also saw Standard keep a second consecutive clean sheet.
Confidence will be running through the players’ veins as a result and they should really fancy their chances against a Mechelen side who were thrashed 4-2 at home by Westerlo in their previous outing.
Standard have the home advantage again this weekend as well and as Brugge found out, the Maurice Dufrasne Stadium is a tough place to visit.
Westerlo to beat Union Saint-Gilloise @ 4.00
With Westerlo’s emphatic win at Mechelen fresh in mind, we are backing them to make it three wins in a row this weekend as they return to hosting duty.
They are the big underdogs heading into their clash with Union Saint-Gilloise, which is a slight surprise.
Westerlo beat Cercle Brugge 3-0 in their Pro League opener and their goal difference of +5 means they sit top of the table heading into Matchday 3.
Teenage striker Lucas Stassin has been a standout performer for Westerlo thus far and Union SG’s defenders simply cannot afford to gift the Belgian starlet a plethora of chances.
Anderlecht to beat Leuven @ 1.72
While Leuven may have impressively beaten Genk 3-1 last weekend, we cannot see them beating Anderlecht away from home.
Anderlecht boast a record of two wins from two after claiming a dramatic 2-1 victory at Antwerp last time out.
The record 34-time Belgian champions just always find a way to win, a trait which will serve them very well as the season progresses.
However, manager Brian Riemer will hope to see a better performance from his side, with perhaps one eye on key attackers Anders Dreyer and Kasper Dolberg – who are yet to get off the mark in 2024-25.
