Manager Gareth Southgate is under immense pressure to deliver not just results but impressive performances. But England’s squad is so strong that surely they have to come good at some point, right? But it will not be easy as they face a tough Slovakia side on Sunday.
Spain to Beat Georgia @ 1.20
Sadly for underdogs Georgia, whose storyline has been as entertaining as their style of play, Spain are one of the favourites to win the competition for a reason and we expect La Roja to win this one comfortably. The quality in their squad is unrivalled by even some of the competition’s biggest nations and so Georgia will struggle to keep up when they face off on Sunday. But that is not to say they will not give it their all.
France to Beat Belgium @ 1.90
Kylian Mbappe and his colleagues will be undeterred by being dealt the seemingly more dangerous side of the draw. As our tournament favourites, Les Bleus have to believe they have the edge over any team they face. Starting with Belgium, in probably the best tie of the round, the French will look to capitalise on the Red Devils’ lack of form and send them packing in some style.
Portugal to Beat Slovenia @ 1.41
Slovenia shocked everyone to qualify from a gruelling Group C including England, Denmark and Serbia. They will once again take to the pitch aiming to stun the world and beat one of the tournament favourites. Portugal on the other hand cruised through their group and will be looking to progress without any significant hurdles. And with one of the strongest squads in the world, we believe they will do so without too much resistance.
Netherlands to Beat Romania @ 1.44
The Netherlands did well in a tough group but struggled to find the killer instinct needed to put games to bed. They will hope that the group stage was the wake up call needed to propel them into the competition’s latter stages. And their third-place finish has actually landed them in a favourable position as far as the draw is concerned. But Group E winners Romania will have other ideas and look to secure a place in the quarter-finals for themselves.
Austria to Beat Turkey @ 1.89
Austria have enhanced their reputation tenfold since the start of this competition. Under manager Ralf Rangnick, they have been a force to be reckoned with, finishing top of their group and beating the Netherlands on the way. Their team is incredibly organised and efficient both defensively and going forwards. Austria will be a problem for even the top teams in the competition and on the preferred side of the draw, expect them to go far. Although, Turkey have characterised this competition in the group stage, fast-paced goalscoring football has been their signature. So whoever wins, it is bound to be fun.
