Club Brugge vs Gent
Club Brugge appear to be slowly playing themselves into form, although it’s still far from convincing. They were held to a 0-0 draw by Mechelen on matchday 17, which did extend their unbeaten run to four league matches, but did little to help their Jupiler Pro League standing. Despite them being nowhere near their best, it’s difficult to bet against Club Brugge at home. They have not been beaten at Jan Breydel Stadion in 14 matches, including four consecutive clean sheets.
However, after a string of poor results on the road, Gent have improved their recent away form. They have won four of their previous five away games, with the other a 2-2 draw against Genk. They have slipped nine points adrift of the league leaders but will still fancy their chances of closing that gap. There’s not a lot to pick between these two sides.
Draw – 4.33
Union Saint-Gilloise vs KV Mechelen
Union are undoubtedly the best team in the Jupiler Pro League this campaign and they continue to chug away with win after win. They are especially dangerous on home soil, winning five successive home matches and scoring 14 goals in the process. But for all their goalscoring exploits, they have been leaking goals at the back. In those five victories, they have kept just one clean sheet.
Mechelen will give as good as they get, as shown in the 0-0 draw with Brugge last weekend. There is some real attacking talent in their ranks, and given Union’s shaky defensive record, we can see the visitors getting on the scoresheet.
Union Saint-Gilloise win and both teams to score – 2.91
Antwerp vs Anderlecht
The biggest Jupiler Pro League match this weekend sees reigning champions Antwerp take on second-place Anderlecht. After a rocky start to the season, Antwerp have been making somewhat of a resurgence of late. In fact, no team has won more points in the previous five matches than Antwerp, who now find themselves 11 points off the top spot.
Anderlecht could see the gap between themselves and fourth cut to just two points should they lose in Antwerp. It’s a tough game to call given how strong both teams look. Antwerp’s last five games have seen 18 goals scored (14 for, 4 against), while Anderlecht’s last five have seen 16 (11 for, 5 against). These look like good odds for both teams to get on the scoresheet.
Both teams to score – 1.72
