Eupen cruised past Leuven on matchday five to top the table, whereas Saint Gilloise’s impressive run came to an end as they were beaten on the road by KV Mechelen.

Kortrijk vs KV Mechelen
This is an interesting tie as Kortrijk have kept a clean sheet in each of their three wins whereas KV Mechelen have failed to keep one thus far. If Kortrijk get their noses in front, they tend to hang on. With Faiz Selemanie in fine form, the home side are always capable of finding a goal, and we don’t think that will be any different in this game.
Mechelen picked up a much needed win after three successive defeats last time out, with an impressive performance against a confident Saint Gilloise side. However, we don’t fancy their chances in this one due to their shaky defence and Kortrijk’s ability to hang on to a lead.

Charleroi vs Beerschot VA
Although Charleroi haven’t lost in their opening five games, they have only won once, and that was in their first game. It was a familiar story last time out as they found themselves settling for a point against Waregem after leading on two occasions. Belgian talent Anass Zaroury continued his good start to the season with another goal and will be targeting Beerschot VA’s weak defence as an opportunity to grab a few more.
Despite Raphael Holzhauser’s best efforts, Beerschot’s awful start to the season continued as they slumped to a 3-2 loss in Bruges against the champions. With 10 goals conceded so far, something needs to change if they are to pick themselves up off the bottom of the table, but a trip to Charleroi is no easy task and we can’t see them picking up anything with their poor form.

Cercle Brugge vs Sint Truiden
This could prove to be an important game for two struggling sides. Neither side have won since their opening game and both are on a run of defeats. Brugge are yet to score more than once in a game and Sint Truiden haven’t done so since their first game.
This match looks likely to be lacking in goals and quality, but we think the home side will just have enough attacking talent with the likes of Waldo Rubio and Olivier Deman proving a handful for opposition defences. It’s tough to see where Sint Truiden’s goals will come from and it is difficult to back them as a result.

Eupen vs Seraing
This could be a closer game than people expect. Seraing loanee Youssef Maziz has impressed with three goals and two assists and Porto academy graduate Marius has also caught the eye. They do have some talent, but Seraing have yet to pick up a point on the road this season and they will have a lot to do if they are to take anything from this game.
Eupen are sitting at the summit of the league as top goalscorers in the competition and their goals have come from all over. Of their 12 goals scored, they have already registered 10 different goalscorers, a seriously impressive feat. Eupen’s ability to outscore has been their key to victory as they are yet to keep a clean sheet, but we think they will be more than capable of outscoring this Seraing side.

Saint Gilloise vs Standard Liege
Since conceding five to Antwerp, Liege have bolstered their defence by moving to a back four and have kept two clean sheets in a row since the change. M’Baye Leye’s side have won both of their away games and face a difficult task if they are to overcome Saint Gilloise.
The newly promoted side have impressed thus far and you can never count them out with their lethal strike partnership of German Deniz Undav and former Genk man Dante Vanzeir. They will pose an entirely different challenge to Liege’s new look back four who will seek to become only the second team to stop one of the pair finding the net. It looks a relatively even tie and we think they will share the points.

Gent vs Club Brugge
Gent are yet to find their stride this season and despite conceding the same number of goals as Club Brugge, they sit 13 places lower than the champions in the table. They are struggling to find goals and Gianni Bruno has failed to hit the ground running since joining from Waregem in the summer. It will be a tough fixture for the home side, made even tougher by a must-win Thursday night fixture in the Europa Conference League which will likely drain their energy.
Noa Lang and Charles de Ketelaere continued to combine for goals for Club Brugge as the Champions beat bottom of the league Beerschot VA in a five goal thriller. Brugge go into the game behind Eupen on only goal difference and will be looking to assert their dominance at the top of the league early on. They have more than enough quality to unlock this Gent side which has yet to get going.

Antwerp vs Leuven
This game looked like it would involve two of the league’s elite goalscorers but Thomas Henry missed the previous game as rumours circled linking the striker with a move to Gent. If Leuven are forced into the sale of the Frenchman, it becomes increasingly difficult to defend their chances of staying up. They are yet to pick up a win and have conceded the most goals in the league – Henry is their only real lifeline.
The league top goalscorer Michael Frey will be looking to improve on his tally of six against a Leuven side who have conceded eight goals in the last two games. On paper, the visitors don’t stand much of a chance, and if Henry is absent again, they have even less hope.

Genk vs Anderlecht
Vincent Kompany’s side have found form winning four of their last five games in all competitions. The strike partnership of Bayern Munich loanee Joshua Zirkzee and Benito Raman have started to find the net with frequency and look like they could cause a lot of teams problems at the back.
Theo Bongonda has started the season in fine form, with four goals and an assist in his opening four games. Last season’s top goalscorer Paul Onuachu has also found his stride, scoring in three of the last four games in all competitions as he bids to retain his golden boot. With young Belgian playmaker Mike Tresor Ndayishmiye looking more and more impressive in each game, we can’t see this Genk side failing to find the net. Looks like an exciting match-up, which we think will end all square.

Oostende vs Waregem
Oostende’s winning run came to an end last time out as they were beaten in Liege. It was only the second time they have failed to score in a match and the second time they have tasted defeat. They face a travelling Waregem team who have had a mixed start to their campaign. The one consistency in Waregem’s inconsistent performances is Jelle Vossen finding the net. The 32 year old is only two goals short of his total in 29 games last season and is pivotal in his side’s chances of pushing a top half finish.
Despite Oostende’s disappointing defeat in their last fixture, it came at the hands of a very solid Standard Liege side and they won’t be too disheartened by the result. We are still excited about this young side and think they will have what it takes to get back to winning ways.
