As tends to be the Union Saint-Gilloise way, they have been raided for some of their top talents and have reinvested in youth prospects. It has served them well thus far, but the loss of Victor Boniface and Teddy Teuma could have a huge impact on their season. Boniface had successfully filled the void left by Dante Vanzeir and Deniz Undav, while Teuma was a consistent threat from midfield. They have made a lot of profit on players, but it remains to be seen how decisive it will be for their season.
After struggling to a rather uninspired 11th-place finish last season, Anderlecht have manage to keep their squad largely intact. However, the loss of 20-year-old goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen could prove a costly one, despite them raking in €20m for the youngster. They have brought in Maxime Dupe from Toulouse to replace him, and they’ll be hoping the 30-year-old is every bit as handy between the sticks.
At the opposite end of the pitch they strengthened significantly. Following Islam Slimani’s departure on a free transfer, Anderlecht have dipped into the striker market and signed up Danish international Kasper Dolberg. The 25-year-old arrives in Belgium having scored goals at every top club he’s played for. He will no doubt excel in the Jupiler Pro League and could fire Anderlecht back into the top eight.
It is always difficult to predict how things will play out on the opening day of the season, especially when lots of transfers have been made. We expect Saint-Gilloise to remain sturdy in their quest for another top-four finish, but this could be a closer affair than most will predict.

Dennis Eckert is leading the odds to open the scoring for USG at 5.50, closely followed by teammates Casper Terho (6.00) and Gustaf Nilsson (8.00).
