2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Netherlands vs Poland Preview

The Netherlands and Poland continue their 2026 World Cup Qualifying campaigns later this evening in Rotterdam.

In a group containing Finland, Lithuania and Malta, the Dutch will be expecting to secure qualification for next summer’s tournament with relative ease.

As for Poland, their hopes of reaching the World Cup may be reliant on their performances against the other nations in Group G, rather than a world-class team like the Netherlands.

Netherlands vs Poland Preview

The Netherlands are clear favourites to make it three wins from three in Group G.

Ronald Koeman’s side beat Finland 2-0 away from home in their first match and then thrashed minnows Malta 8-0.

Those comfortable wins came after an unsuccessful Nations League quarter-final tie against Spain, which saw the Dutch lose on penalties after the scores finished 5-5 on aggregate.

But the Netherlands performed well against the European champions across the two legs, and will really fancy themselves to make a statement against Poland.

Under the new management of Jan Urban, superstar captain Robert Lewandowski is back in the fold for the Poles, which is a huge boost for their qualifying campaign.

The Barcelona striker did not get on with previous boss Michal Probierz, but Poland’s record scorer is likely to start later this evening at the Feyenoord Stadium.

Poland beat Lithuania and Malta in their first two qualifiers, however, a 2-1 away loss to current group leaders Finland last time out could prove fatal to the White-Reds’ hopes.

The Netherlands and Poland have met four times since June 2016, with the Dutch winning three of the matches and the other finishing as a draw.

If that winless run continues, World Cup qualification looks a tall order for the Poles…

Netherlands vs Poland Betting Tips

Player to score or assist – Cody Gakpo @ 1.67

Gakpo has started the 2025-26 season in fine fashion with Liverpool, recording a goal and two assists in his first three Premier League appearances. Gakpo also has 15 goals and seven assists in 40 appearances for the Netherlands, a fine record we can see him adding to vs Poland.

Netherlands to score over 2.5 goals @ 2.15

The Dutch have got the attacking talent to blow any team away, with Gakpo supported by the likes of Xavi Simons, Memphis Depay and Tijjani Reijnders. If Koeman’s men grab an early goal, it could be a long night for Poland. The Netherlands have scored over 2.5 goals in three of their last six matches.

Poland to score over 0.5 goals @ 2.01

But while we expect a routine victory for the hosts, we can see Poland grabbing a goal themselves – especially with Lewandowski returning to partner Krzysztof Piatek. The White-Reds have scored at least once in their last eight matches.
