2026 World Cup Qualifiers – Matchday 7 Betting Tips

Domestic football is taking a short pause for the October international break.

Over the course of the next two weeks, we will be treated to some fantastic matches as nations go toe-to-toe for the coveted places at next summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Some European countries are already on the cusp of qualifying, while others are looking to avoid the thought of the dreaded play-off rounds.

Read on for some online sports betting tips focused on the latest round of European World Cup Qualifiers, part of the way in which we help you craft your bets on football.

Croatia to beat Czech Republic @ 2.33

A clash between two European sides who will each be expecting to play at next summer’s World Cup. Croatia currently top Group L, having won all four matches and scored 17 goals in the process. The 2018 World Cup finalists thrashed Czech Republic 5-1 on home soil back in June, while their most recent fixture saw them claim a 4-0 win over Montenegro. So while an away trip is always a tough task in the international football arena, we still expect Croatia to overcome this hurdle.

Germany vs Luxembourg: Anytime goalscorer – Nick Woltemade @ 1.73

Woltemade has started his Newcastle career in fine fashion, adding another goal to his tally in last Sunday’s 2-0 home win over Nottingham Forest. The former Stuttgart striker has now netted four times in seven appearances across all competitions, and was also on target in the Magpies’ 4-0 Champions League win at Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise. Woltemade will be hoping to transfer his club form to the international stage, and a match against Luxembourg represents the perfect opportunity to do so. Woltemade is yet to score for Germany in four appearances, but we expect that to change this week, as he makes his case to be Die Mannschaft’s starting No9 at the World Cup.

Slovakia to beat Northern Ireland @ 2.76

Slovakia shocked the world by beating Germany 2-0 on September 4, a result which could prove crucial in their bid to reach the World Cup. It also places extra emphasis on this match. If Slovakia’s trip to Northern Ireland yields victory, a place in North America next summer beckons. The Northern Irish were beaten 3-1 by Germany after defeating Luxembourg 3-1 away from home in their first qualifier. Manager Michael O’Neill certainly has quality in his ranks, so this should be a pretty even match, with perhaps one goal deciding the outcome. And it is the visitors Slovakia who we think will strike the decisive blow.

Scotland vs Greece: Anytime goalscorer – Vangelis Pavlidis @ 3.00

This Thursday night clash should be one of the standout games of the week, and it is one which is very hard to call. Both Scotland and Greece can trouble the very best teams on their day, with the former also a strong outfit on home soil. That being said, Greece possesses the most potent attacking weapon within the two squads in Benfica striker Pavlidis. He already has five goals and two assists in the Portuguese top flight this season, while he also scored in Greece’s 5-1 victory over Belarus in last month’s international break. Scotland have kept three clean sheets in a row vs Liechtenstein, Denmark and Belarus, but we are backing Pavlidis to end that impressive defensive record at Hampden Park.
