2026 World Cup Qualifiers: France vs Ukraine Preview

France are one step away from reaching the 2026 World Cup ahead of tomorrow’s match vs Ukraine at the Parc des Princes.

Didier Deschamps’ side, who won the 2018 tournament and lost out to Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the 2022 final, need one more win to book their spot in North America next summer.

And Ukraine may be the nation to help Les Bleus deliver on their pre-qualifying expectations, although Serhiy Rebrov’s side are looking to consolidate second place in the group.

So it is an intriguing match in prospect, one which we have previewed in full below, complete with some sports betting online tips for your midweek football bets.

France vs Ukraine Preview

France are unbeaten in their last five matches across all competitions, last tasting defeat in the 5-4 epic vs Spain in the Nations League semi-finals.

Les Bleus claimed three consecutive wins in this qualifying group vs Ukraine (0-2), Iceland (2-1) and Azerbaijan (3-0), though did draw 2-2 away at Iceland in their previous outing.

But on home soil, Deschamps’ men have proven their quality, and even without injured Paris Saint-Germain duo Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue, France should have more than enough firepower to claim the win here.

As for Ukraine, a draw in this match would be a huge achievement, and would put them in pole position for the group’s play-off spot.

Rebrov’s men have won two consecutive matches since losing to France and drawing 1-1 at Azerbaijan.

Ukraine claimed a 5-3 victory in Iceland, and then got revenge on Azerbaijan with a vital 2-1 win.

With the Ukrainians sitting three points ahead of Iceland in the group ahead of kick-off, we are almost guaranteed a winner-takes-all clash on Sunday, so long as the Nordic boys beat Azerbaijan.

As for France, they will be hoping for a pressure-free trip to Baku on the same day courtesy of a comfortable win in Paris.

France vs Ukraine Betting Tips

Anytime goalscorer – Kylian Mbappe @ 1.50

Mbappe has scored five goals in his last five games for France, netting once in each of them. Every time he takes to the field, the Les Bleus skipper looks like striking a decisive blow – and tomorrow night should be no different.

Bet Builder: France to win, over 2.5 goals and Kylian Mbappe to score anytime @ 2.05

If you want to slightly increase the odds on a Mbappe goal, this Bet Builder looks a good route to go down. France and Ukraine’s last two qualifiers have all featured over 2.5 goals.
