2026 World Cup Qualifiers: France vs Azerbaijan Preview

France continue their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a home match against Azerbaijan.

Kick-off is scheduled for tomorrow evening, and Les Bleus are expected to win this match by a considerable margin.

France vs Azerbaijan Preview

As expected, France are two wins from two in this relatively easy-looking qualifying group, already picking up victories over Ukraine and Iceland.

However, Didier Deschamps’ side did not have things all their own way against the latter.

Les Bleus fell 1-0 behind to Iceland at the Parc des Princes, but eventually secured a 2-1 win thanks to goals from captain Kylian Mbappe and Bradley Barcola.

Aurelien Tchouameni also picked up a red card against Iceland, meaning he is suspended for this fixture.

But France should not miss a defensive midfielder at all against a team like Azerbaijan, who are 11 games without a win – their last triumph coming way back in June 2024 vs Kazakhstan.

Azerbaijan were beaten 5-0 by Iceland in their first qualifier, though did salvage some pride with a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Ukraine last time out.

Nevertheless, France represents a serious step up in quality, even without injured stars such as Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola,Marcus Thuram and Rayan Cherki

And Mbappe is expected to be fit enough to play a significant role in this international break after picking up a minor knock in Real Madrid’s 3-1 victory over Villarreal.

The Les Bleus skipper has 14 goals in 10 club appearances this season, and with the likes of Michael Olise, Hugo Ekitike and Jean-Philippe Mateta in support, you really do fear for Azerbaijan.

France vs Azerbaijan Odds

France are such big favourites for the win here that no odds are being offered in the Match Result market. An Azerbaijan win is priced at a very high 34.00, while the draw is 13.00.

France vs Azerbaijan Betting Tips

Anytime goalscorer – Michael Olise @ 1.73

Mbappe is priced at just 1.20 to score anytime in the match, odds which are not really worth wagering on, unless you are betting big. So instead, we are opting for in-form Olise in this market, with the Bayern Munich star enjoying a sensational start to the season. Olise has five goals and six assists from 10 appearances across all competitions, and Azerbaijan’s defence may find stopping him an almost impossible task.

France total goals – Over 4.5 @ 1.92

If Deschamps’ side manage to score early in this match, the scoreline could get a little ugly for the visitors. The France boss has so many attacking weapons at his disposal, a scary level of depth which means his side can keep their foot on the jugular for the entire 90 minutes.
